ADC suspends South-South Vice Chairman Usani over alleged anti-party conduct
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Dr. Usani Uguru Usani, citing alleged constitutional breaches and conduct deemed harmful to the party’s unity and development.
The decision was reached at a meeting of the Cross River State Working Committee (SWC) held on October 15, 2025.
In a statement released Monday in Abuja, the party’s Cross River State Publicity Secretary, Hon. James Otudor, stated that Dr. Usani’s actions violated key provisions of the ADC constitution and were inconsistent with party discipline.
The suspension, according to the statement, followed deliberations on multiple petitions and internal reports accusing Dr. Usani of anti-party activities, insubordination, and behavior capable of damaging the party’s image and cohesion. The party noted that the suspension would remain in place pending a full investigation by appropriate party organs.
The statement also criticized the appointment of Ms. Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, claiming the state chapter was neither consulted nor involved in the process. It further noted that Ms. Wayas has not engaged with the Cross River State chapter since assuming office, and called on the national leadership to reassess her appointment.
Concerns were also raised over individuals affiliated with the Coalition Movement who have expressed interest in joining the ADC but have yet to complete formal membership procedures. The party warned against dual affiliations and the misuse of the ADC platform by those advancing multiple political interests.
To address this, the party directed all coalition leaders and prospective members to regularize their membership by registering at the ward level within seven days—by October 25, 2025—or face exclusion from party activities.
Despite the internal issues, the Cross River ADC reaffirmed its loyalty to the national leadership and pledged continued support for transparent leadership and a people-oriented political vision in the state and the South-South region.
