ADC Suspends Atiku, Babachir Lawal Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities
The Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the suspension of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, alongside former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, over alleged anti-party activities.
The announcement was made by the party’s state chairman, Hon. Muh’d Raji Sulaiman Zumo, in a statement on Monday.
According to Zumo, the suspension followed allegations that the affected members engaged in actions deemed contrary to the interests and unity of the party. He noted that the decision was taken in line with the party’s constitution and disciplinary procedures.
The chairman added that other unnamed members were also affected by the disciplinary measure, stressing that the party would not tolerate activities capable of undermining its structure in Adamawa State.
While details of the specific offences were not disclosed, the ADC leadership reiterated its commitment to maintaining internal discipline and cohesion as political activities continue to build ahead of future elections.
Efforts to reach the suspended members for reaction were ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
