ADC Emphasizes Legal Foundation, Transparent Candidate Selection
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reiterated that its formation and endorsement as a coalition platform to oppose President Bola Tinubu in 2027 are grounded in solid legal principles.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this statement while addressing journalists in Abuja.
Abdullahi assured that the party will ensure a transparent and level playing field for the selection of its presidential candidate, dismissing any notion of anointing a preferred candidate. He emphasized that the party’s process will be guided by internal democracy, allowing all aspirants to participate fairly.
The ADC spokesperson clarified that the party has no predetermined agenda or favorite candidate, adding that supporters’ claims about aspirants’ intentions do not necessarily reflect the sentiments of the individuals they claim to support for particular aspirants do not necessarily represent the individuals’ views.
Regarding potential legal challenges, Abdullahi acknowledged that some individuals have approached the court but expressed confidence in the party’s solid legal foundation.
He stated that the party has taken precautions to prevent the ruling APC from exploiting any loopholes to destabilize the ADC.
Abdullahi emphasized that the ADC is confident in its legal grounds, having carefully considered potential challenges and taken steps to address them.
He assured that the party is well-prepared to navigate any legal issues that may arise.
