A former Senator grabs FHA’s land in Guzape, claiming allocation from FCT Minister

Tension is building around 12 Crescent, Federal Housing Authority FHA Apo/Guzape in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory following the grabbing of FHA Land in Guzape by former Senator Mao Ohuabunwa claiming allocation from the FCT Minister.

The matter which is in court has taken a twist owing to impunity and flagrant disregard of the court process by the encroachers believed to be backed by a prominent politician fronting for a top government official.
According to documents at our disposal, the area in question, the area in Guzape was duly acquired by Federal Housing Authority (FHA) from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA), from the available letter of allocation had allocated plots of land to some allottees in 2022 and was in the process of opening up the road, when a developer, NIMAO Nigeria Limited, a company registered in Yola and associated with Senator Mao Ohabunwa in 2024 illegally encroached on the land.
The Federal Housing Authority in a suit no FCT/HC/CV/290/2025 before the Federal High Court of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja had approached the Abuja High Court to challenge the impunity.
Despite the fact that the matter has been mentioned for hearing, the defiant encroacher, our source revealed, has gone to sell the land to unsuspecting members of the public at the cost of N250m per plot and mobilized them with security to develop the plot.

An FHA allottee who spoke on the condition of anonymity revealed that attempt to get to their plots duly and genuinely allocated to them by FHA has been rebuffed by the developer, NIMAO Nigeria Limited, claiming the land was allocated by the current Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike with a certificate of Occupancy (C of O) signed by him dated 2024.

The allottee disclosed that all the concerned FHA allottees have come together to resist what they called “impunity and day light robbery”.

Speaking under anonymity, an FHA official said that authority is still studying and will take all necessary lawful steps to stop the recklessness.
The source revealed that the search at AGIS shows that the land belongs to the FHA.
According to him, “there is no record that the land given to FHA was revoked”. FHA was allocated additional piece of land under the previous administration”.
He then wondered why a developer is claiming to have a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) in 2024 and believed that such document is suspicious and questionable.
The FHA allotees in 12 Crescent Apo/Guzape are calling for justice and have vowed to join in resisting broad day light robbery of properties they genuinely acquired.
They are calling on Federal Housing Authority FHA to protect the allocation given to them which they have paid for.
They are also calling on the government to look into this case of criminality and disregard to court process by NIMAO Nigeria Limited with links to Senator Mao Ohabunwa and the government official he is fronting for.
A visit to the site shows the presence of Security Operatives deployed to guide the workers on site and intimidate the legitimate FHA allottees despite the matter being in court.
