2027: Yahaya Bello debunks Presidential ambition
The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has firmly denied claims suggesting he plans to run against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, Ohiare Michael, the circulating campaign poster was dismissed as fake, deceptive, and the work of mischief-makers intent on tarnishing the former governor’s image at all costs.
Bello reiterated that he harbors no presidential ambition and remains fully committed to supporting President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. He praised the President’s performance, noting that Tinubu has delivered commendable leadership despite global economic pressures.
The statement read in part:
“We are once again confronted with baseless propaganda from those whose only aim is to spread falsehood and mislead the public. These individuals have continuously failed in their desperate attempts to discredit His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
“This is not the first time detractors have resorted to lies to create a false narrative of rivalry between the former governor and President Tinubu. The latest attempt — reposting a 2022 rally and presenting it as a recent event — reflects a disturbing level of desperation and deceit.
“Such efforts, driven by brainless operatives and their equally misguided sponsors, are easily debunked by the clear 2022 dates visible on the banners in the video being circulated.
“We categorically state that His Excellency, Yahaya Bello, has no intention of running for president in 2027. His loyalty to President Tinubu is unwavering, and he remains committed to the President’s re-election.
“The facts speak for themselves: the Tinubu administration has made significant strides in governance despite global headwinds. On merit, he deserves the continued support of all patriotic Nigerians.
“We urge the public to ignore the latest falsehood being peddled online — it is nothing more than the ranting of desperate individuals seeking relevance where there is none.”
