Zamfara Gov faults cancellation of APC primaries, insists exercise was credible
The Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, has faulted the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cancel the governorship primary in the state.
The governor accused the chairman of the primary committee, Professor Abubakar Faki, of bias, alleging that he was being sponsored by the opposition to influence the outcome of the elections.
He told journalists in Gusau, the state capital on Thursday that the election was credible and therefore, vowed to ensure that the process is completed and the results are announced.
The APC had cancelled the exercise, stating that it was marred by various malpractices including snatching of election materials.
In a statement signed by the party’s spokesperson, Yekini Nabena, the election committee explained that the decision had been approved by the National Working Committee based on the cited reasons.
It also said that a new date will be announced soon for the repeat of the exercise.
