Zaki Biam Killings: Police boss, Idris reveals those behind massacre, says Fulani herdsmen not responsible

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has said Fulani herdsmen are not responsible for the massacre in Zaki Biam area of Benue State.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, on Friday, the police boss disclosed that one Gana, who is on the wanted list of the police may be responsible for the attack.

Recall that several people were recently killed by some unknown gunmen in Zaki Biam yam market, in Benue State, an action which was ascribed to Fulani herdsmen.

Reacting to the claim, Idris announced that he has deployed police special units to arrest Gana over his connection to the attack.

When asked if Fulani herdsmen were responsible, the police boss said, “No I don’t think its Fulani herdsmen. It was an activity of a criminal who is using some of his criminal gangs in the state to harass people.

“We have deployed Mobile Police Unit on 16th of this month to the area. There are allegations that Gana, one of the wanted man was responsible.

“This man has been in the police wanted list and I now decided to deploy some special unit both investigative to go after him and get him by all means.

“Like I said earlier, definitely, we are going to get that man.”
