Young female leads kidnappers to abduct CMD of Irrua teaching hospital

A young female on Monday led a kidnapping gang to abduct the Chief Medical Director of Irrua Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo State, Professor Sylvanus Okogbeni in Benin City.

The kidnappers during the process of kidnapping the CMD shot the two mobile policemen attached to him. They are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Benin City.

According to eye witnesses at the scene of the incident, it was gathered that the CMD was on his way to Irrua, Esan Central local government with his security escort before they encountered the kidnappers who overtook their vehicle at Ramat Park.

They confirmed that the gang was led by a young female, who personally drove a Lexus Jeep, and giving instructions to other members who were in a Toyota Voltron, to shoot at the policemen and whosoever that might want to disrupt their activities.

However, during the exchange of shooting,  two of the mobile policemen were shot before they finally abducted Professor Okogbeni, and whisked him to an unknown destination.

As part of their strategies having abducted their target, the kidnappers were allegedly shooting sporadically to scare members of the public and other passersby to perfect their escape, while people ran to avoid being hit by stray bullets.

Meanwhile, as at time of reporting, no contact has been made between the kidnappers and Professor Okogbeni family, just as Edo State Command, Nigeria Police have been briefed and efforts are now in place to rescue him unhurt.
