YES Initiative throws weight behind Senator Adeola for 2027 Ogun Governorship

Members of the YES Initiative (Yewa-Awori Engagement Strategy Initiative), a socio-political advocacy group committed to strategic engagement, leadership development, and inclusive political participation in Ogun State, have declared their support for Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola as the preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement was announced at a strategic meeting held in Ogun West, which drew together community leaders, professionals, youth representatives, and party stakeholders from across the Yewa-Awori axis.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the leader of the initiative, Chief Segun Ogundele, explained that the decision followed wide-ranging consultations, a thorough assessment of credentials, and a careful consideration of Ogun State’s leadership needs at this stage of its political development.

“This decision goes beyond sentiment or zoning,” Ogundele said. “Our focus is on readiness, experience, loyalty to party structures, and the ability to provide effective leadership from the very first day.”

According to the group, Senator Adeola’s track record as both a legislator and administrator distinguishes him among the field of aspirants. They highlighted his role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations as proof of his strong grasp of governance, public finance, and institutional management.

The initiative noted that Ogun State requires a leader with financial discipline, political maturity, and the capacity to manage diverse interests without undermining stability.

“Ogun State will be better served under his leadership,” Ogundele stated. “His performance at the national level demonstrates the experience and competence the state needs at this time.”

Members of the group further described Senator Adeola as a unifying figure whose acceptance spans Ogun West, Central, and East, cutting across political, ethnic, and generational divides. While acknowledging his Yewa-Awori roots, they stressed that his political style has consistently reflected inclusiveness and respect for the state’s diversity.

“His background symbolises balance, not exclusion,” a member remarked. “His competence speaks to the interests of all parts of Ogun State.”

The YES Initiative used the occasion to urge leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State to prioritise competence, capacity, and party loyalty in the selection of the party’s governorship flagbearer for 2027.

The group maintained that Senator Adeola’s steadfast loyalty to party leadership and his calm, disciplined approach to politics position him as a stabilising force capable of sustaining and improving governance in Ogun State.

The YES Initiative is a socio-political advocacy organisation focused on promoting competence-based leadership, party cohesion, and peaceful political mobilisation across Ogun State, with particular emphasis on the Yewa-Awori axis.
