Xenophobia: House of Rep. member gives FG 48 hours ultimatum
By ABIODUN JIMOH
A House of Representatives member, Rep. Kingsley O. Chinda representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency of Rivers State has given federal government 48 hours to take positive action against the incessant killings of Nigerians by South Africans.
Chinda however, declared that if within the stipulated time nothing is done by the federal government he will take definite action to protect any of his constituents resident in South Africa.
Rep. Chinda who was worried and disappointed by the spate of xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa blast the federal government for not doing nothing about the incident.
“The government is doing almost nothing, nobody is saying anything serious to Nigerians.
“This docile and irresponsive attitude of government is prompting self help posture of Nigerians.
“A responsible government should have taken clear steps and gain confidence of the people that their government will or is protecting their interest”.
Grieved by the federal government’s slow action, Rep. Chinda once again called on the NASS to intervene now to give some semblance of hope.
“If nothing positive happens in the next 48 hours, I shall take definite steps as the rep of Obio Akpor Federal Constituency to protect my constituents, if any in S.A.”
