Woman dies while urinating in Ado-Ekiti

There was confusion Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital, as a 59-year-old woman, identified as Victoria Yemisi Omoare, slumped and died while urinating.
The woman, it was gathered, had alighted from a private car to ease herself around the abattoir, along the Ekiti State University Road in Ado Ekiti when the incident occurred.
The driver of the vehicle, Mr Orimaye Oluwafemi, who is a lecturer in Faculty of Agriculture of the state owned university, while narrating the incident said the woman had demanded that he gave her a ride to the institution.
Olufemi said, ” I was going to the school to fetch some water leaf in my farm and withdraw some money through ATM when the woman who was staying at my residence and another student there, opted to follow me.
“It was when I decided to stop by the road to take a photograph of a particular tree you could use for a thesis that the late Omoare decided to use the opportunity to urinate in a nearby bush.
“But having waited for her return for about five minutes that I and the student in my car went to check on the woman only to discover that she had slumped and died”.
Oluwafemi disclosed that the deceased, who from Akoko was a teacher at Adegbola Memorial High School, Akure in Ondo state and had been staying with his family in Ado Ekiti before coronavirus case was confirmed in Ekiti, though he didn’t know any of her family members.
He added that the late Omoare, said to be unmarried, just completed her PhD programme and recently complained about abdominal pain two days after she completed a three day fasting.
Some medical experts and security officers who visited the scene of the incident were of the view that her death may not be as a result of COVID-19, but autopsy must be carried out on the corpse to ascertain the cause.
The woman’s corpse had been deposited at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital’s mortuary in Ado Ekiti.
