The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, has congratulated residents of the Territory, particularly the Christian faithful, on the celebration of Christmas, urging them to use the season to promote peace, unity and goodwill.
In his 2025 Christmas message to FCT residents, Wike described Christmas as a season of joy, sharing and good neighbourliness, calling on Christians to reflect on the core values of love, unity and peace exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ.
The minister encouraged residents to pray for Nigeria and its leaders, expressing optimism that the country would experience greater peace and progress in the years ahead. He also commended FCT residents for their cooperation and support of the FCT Administration throughout 2025.
According to Wike, the past 12 months recorded significant achievements across critical sectors in the Territory. He noted that schools were renovated, hospitals staffed and equipped, roads and bridges constructed across area councils, the judiciary supported, and security infrastructure strengthened.
“It has indeed been a year of remarkable achievements,” the minister said, attributing the successes to the support and cooperation of residents.
Wike expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his “massive support” toward the development of the Federal Capital Territory. He also acknowledged the contributions of development partners, stakeholders, staff of the FCT Administration and residents of the Territory.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment, the minister assured residents that the FCT Administration would remain steadfast in delivering infrastructure and services that positively impact their lives.
He further urged residents to remain security-conscious during the festive period, advising them to report suspicious activities to security agencies. Wike assured residents that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure the safety of lives and property during and beyond the Christmas celebrations.
The minister concluded by wishing all FCT residents a Merry Christmas and a joyful celebration, praying for God’s blessings on the Territory and the nation.
