Why NNPP Expel Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin

The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin, the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, citing anti-party activities and defaulting on financial obligations.

The expulsion was announced on Saturday by the party’s state chairman, Alhaji Hashim Dungurawa, during a press briefing in Kano.

Dungurawa accused Jibrin of repeatedly attacking the party and its leadership in the media while openly fraternizing with political rivals of NNPP leader and former governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“Rather than resolve issues internally, he chose to undermine us, openly pledging loyalty outside the party. That is why we expelled him — he adds no value,” Dungurawa declared.

He further alleged that Jibrin had refused to pay his mandatory dues, vowing that the party would seek legal redress to recover the arrears.

On concerns that Jibrin’s rumored return to the APC could hurt the NNPP, Dungurawa dismissed the speculation, insisting the Kwankwasiyya movement
