Why Nigerian Students and Media are Routing in My Support —Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies

As PDP abandons Zoning, throws 2023 Presidential Ticket open for all Aspirants in a report by Jake Clifford – April 5, 2022, Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies explains why Nigerian Students and Media are routing in her support and why she didn’t purchase the PDP Presidential ticket, says, “It has become a Mass-Pro and insists the Vice -President position should be reserved exclusively for the women folks in People’s Democratic Party (PDP) process this time around so as for PDP to assuredly win the 2023 Presidential election as Kamala Harris in the US.

Ahead of 2023 presidential election, the Presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), one of the Parties in Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, a formidable personality and candidate in 2019 presidential election and a current Presidential aspirant under the PDP further explains she will support PDP’s over all final candidate unfailingly, because it’s high time APC handed over.

She agreed with, “The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba who had defended the large number of presidential aspirants that purchased forms, saying, “The more the merrier.” Adding that, “The large number shows that Nigerians see the capabilities of the party as the only one capable of rescuing Nigeria from the abyss and misrule of the APC.”

Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election slated for 28th May 2022, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom led zoning committee have thrown the ticket open. The source after the over 3 hours meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, said: ”We have resolved that the ticket be thrown open. This will allow those who have bought forms to contest.

Many governors on the platform of the PDP from the south are agitating that the ticket be zoned to the south, while those in the north and the Presidential aspirants from the north want zoning jettisoned.

Meanwhile, addressing journalists after the meeting, Ortom said, “We have just finished our meeting, after we rose from our meeting last week, today we decided that we would meet and by the Grace of God we have unanimously adopted a position that will be sent to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our Party that appointed us.”

He reinstated, “The good news for our teaming supporters of the PDP and Nigerians is that we have resolved and every one of us, the 37 members unanimously adopted the position that we are going to present to NEC.”

In an earlier report, titled, “Old Politicians Should Step Aside For New Generation To Move Nigeria Forward” – Obasanjo, by Olufemi Makinde on Feb 21, 2022, “Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says, The time has come for the old politicians to leave the stage for the younger ones with fresh ideas to move the country forward.”

The octogenarian, who ruled Nigeria as Military Head of State and as a civilian President, said whatever experience the older generation of politicians have should be made available to the younger ones to reposition the country and make it much better than it is now.

Obasanjo, who was Chairman of the occasion spoke on Monday at the 2022 annual lecture of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation with the theme, ‘Beyond Boko Haram: Addressing insurgency, banditry and kidnapping across Nigeria’.

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, was the guest speaker at the virtual lecture. The ex-President said rather than competition, the old generation should collaborate with the younger ones and provide them with the requisite knowledge and experience to transform the country for the better.

He said, “We need to have an intergenerational collaboration. Fayemi said he was in primary school when Murtala-Obasanjo were there. So, if people of Murtala-Obasanjo are competing with you as governor then something is wrong.

“Murtala-Obasanjo group should be stepping aside. Whatever experience and knowledge you have, we should be able to give it to you and should be able to give it to those coming after you, so that whatever you have you are passing it down to those of you who are coming behind.

“We are not supposed to start competing with you but make you have access to what would make you Nigeria better you find it.” Adesanya-Davies asks, “What is the role of a woman in the presidency in 2023, if not that of a President or Vice president in Aso Rock in 2023?”
