Why APC nomination form fee is high- APC Chieftain, condemn indirect primaries

A chieftain of All Progressive Congress APC has giving an insight why the party nomination form fee is high.

The top APC chieftain from Ogun West who pleaded anonymity explained that the governors opposed to the idea of direct primaries on the ground that they do not have such money.

According to the politician, the governors argued that direct primaries are capital intensive, saying they have so many commitment like paying salaries, providing infrastructure among others.

“Base on this, Oshiomhole now said okay no problem aspirants will now fund the primaries themselves that was why the nomination form fee was raised so high.

“This means that any state that has crisis about a particular candidate, national will now come and conduct direct primary. They (national) will fund such primaries. The governor (s) in such state will not have to spend a kobo, it will be financed by the headquarters”, he explained.

Condemning indirect primaries, the politician said the only way to strengthen democracy is through direct primaries where every card carrying member of the party are expected to participate in electing a candidate of their choice.

“I prefer direct primary let everybody go to the field. Is like the old option A4. It’s more credible”.
