We won’t abandon inherited projects that have positive bearings on populace – Governor Abiodun

By ABIODUN JIMOH, ABEOKUTA
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has reassured the good people of the state that his administration would not abandon all inherited projects that have bearing and which will impact the development of the state positively.
Prince Dapo restated this assurance during his speech at the Ogun Central senatorial district town hall meeting on 2020 budget held on Friday at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, state capital, where he also highlighted various projects his administration has embarked upon since assumption of office four months ago.
The Ogun Central senatorial district town hall meeting is the last leg of the meeting having held the first leg at Ogun East senatorial district, in Ijebu Ode while the second leg was held at Ogun West senatorial district, Ilaro, Yewa local government council on Wednesday.
At the town hall meeting were Alake of Egba and Paramount ruler of Egba land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, and many other traditional rulers across the district; party leaders from all the local government areas. Past and present members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), market women leaders, and various associations and unions in the state.
The governor expressed that the positive feedback received from people, both in Ogun East and Ogun West, respectively, so far confirmed to him that there was no better way to water the seed of participatory democracy than the civic engagement of people at their backyards.
Furthermore, he noted that although, some of these facilities might have initially be meant for another thing, but that his administration would creatively utilize everything we found on ground for the benefit of our state and its people.
“The fact remains that even when the facilities had been largely abandoned and could not be used for initial purpose, it will be converted to the advantage of our dear State. We have seen the example of the Ogun Tech Hub, along Kobape road, on the outskirts of this ancient city. That facility was initially meant to serve as a Model Secondary School.
“But whilst it was largely abandoned for most of the last administration, we have now converted, it to a Tech Hub for our people to use the same facility for the creative ingenuity of our creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial inclined youth which will in turn also put Ogun State on the global map of technology and entrepreneurship.
“Let me therefore use this opportunity to reassure the people of Ogun State that this administration will not engage in unnecessary vendetta or self-aggrandisement.
“Our Administration will complete all inherited projects that have the potentials to benefit our people. They are funded with the commonwealth of the people of Ogun State.”
Speaking further, Prince Dapo said: “If we are talking about good governance, it is about people and the same people must be knitted closely to their government for full participation in the decision-making processes that affect them.
“Very sincerely, these three town hall meetings have gone beyond the political landscape and have been incorporated as the basis for the continued socio-economic development of our dear State.
“And, in this direction, our administration is preparedly positioned to develop all approaches that will allow individuals to maximize the great and full potentials of resources available in our dear state, regardless of creed, gender and political affiliation or geographical location.
“Above all, our administration will uphold the principles of good governance for more participation, inclusiveness, responsiveness, effectiveness and efficiency. Because governance is all about the people.”
