Ute-Ukpu Mysterious Deaths: Angry Youths Threaten To Raze Monarch’s Palace

Fierce violence on Monday erupted in Ute- Ukpu Community in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State following the continued deaths’ toll in the area in mysterious circumstance.

The violence orchestrated by the angry youths in the community,  were said to have allegedly set on fire the main market that was however saved by some good Samaritans, before matching to the monarch’s palace where they were prevented by soldiers numbering over twenty with arms.

Aljazirahnews Nigeria gathered that four youths on Sunday evening died in the continued mysterious circumstance, making over fifteen youths that have allegedly died in the community with no solution on sight even though the state government through the Commissioner for Health, Dr Ononye Mordi claimed it was doing something to remedy the situation and that samples results of the blood test from the people was being expected.

Eyewitness Maximum Okechukwu said that the protesters allegedly burnt down several houses and the main market but were calmed down during which they moved into the palace of the community’s monarch where they were prevented by larger number of soldiers at the palace gate.

Recall that in the last two weeks, Ute-Ukpu Community, among others in Ika North East Local Government Area of the State, have been under siege of mysterious deaths, a situation that had claimed about 65 persons

The state government had also attributed the deaths’ toll to Yellow Fever ravaging the areas, but the angry youths who disagreed with the state government’s findings, alleged that the gods were angry.

While the attempt to burn the palace of the monarch in the community was reportedly foiled by the combined efforts of the soldiers and fierce looking mobile policemen, Police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the protest, saying that the situation was brought under control, warning that the law will catch up with any group of people causing mayhem under the unapproved protests

Meanwhile, a proactive response of the state government may perform the magic wand as some medical experts were last Monday dispatched to other states with blood samples for laboratory tests that would be made clear and public the root cause of the mysterious deaths in the community in the recent times.
