Update: Majiya fire accident: Northern Governors Donate N1 billion, Kano State N100 million to Victims, as 18 states donates N50 million each

The 19 northern governors has donated N1billion to Jigawa State to support the victims of the Majiya Fire Incident. Kano State has already donated 100 million Naira.

This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, when he led the Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, and the Deputy Governors of Borno, Yobe, Katsina, Kebbi, and Taraba States on a sympathy visit to Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, at Government House, Dutse, this evening.”

The Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Gumel disclosed this in a tarsed text message to Daily Dispatch Newspaper on Saturday.

Also 18 states names yet to be disclosed donated 50 million Naira each while the Kano State government donated 100 million Naira.

A petrol tanker had an accident at Majiya town in Taura Local government area of Jigawa State. The tanker was conveying petrol to Yobe State.

The accident happened around 11:45 pm on Tuesday and people of Majiya town and some villages around the place came out to siphon the fuel and in the course of that, fire started and consumed many.

Over 107 people died while over 300 hospitalized.
