Unrelenting Attempts on assassinated Barrister Chief Oyibo Chukwu’s Political Aide in the aftermath of his gruesome murder
Ayo Akintayo,
With the Supreme Court Ruling validating the outcomes of the 2023 elections as conducted by INEC, politicians are settling down to deliver the dividends of democracy three months after the swearing-in ceremonies but there’s no respite yet for some very close associates of Barrister Chief Oyibo Chukwu who was gruesomely murdered and burnt to ashes by yet to be identified assailants in a celebrated high profile politically meditated assassination on the eve of the 2023 election.
We can authoritatively recall that the PM News Edition of February 23, 2023 had broken the News of the assassination of Barrister Chief Oyibo Chukwu who was then the Senatorial Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Enugu South. Four members of his campaign team were murdered in cold blood and burnt to ashes along with him on February 22, 2023 at Amaechi Akwunana while they were on their way from a political campaign tour to Agbani,Nkanu West community of Enugu State, by people suspected to be political opponents just three days to the National Assembly Elections already slated to take place on the 25th of that month by INEC
Investigations into this high profile murder has since begun with political opponents questioned and some arrests effected.
The case has since being charged to court but the whole process has been an unending rigmarole of sorts but the high point of it all is the incessant threats to the life of Barrister Chief Oyibo’s Special Assistant/Mobilisation Director in the person of Mr. Suleiman Ashekun, who had witnessed the dastardly act and having barely escaped death by whiskers himself. The assailants are obviously determined to scuttle his life knowing that he had witnessed it all and that with him being alive to give witness in court, their tracks could not be covered.
Mr. Suleiman Ashekun, who barely escaped being killed and burnt to ashes like other members of the Entourage but hid in a safe position nearby as he was able to witness the wicked and cold blooded murder and inciniration of his late principal and others.
Suleiman was later attacked but he luckily escaped the assassination attempt by whiskers, again on April 13, 2023 at Abakpa Nike town in Enugu State.
He revealed in an interview with the media how he was again attacked in the month of May 2023 at Nsuka in the same state where his principal and others were murdered and razed to ashes.
He had suffered a broken bone and twisted leg in his miraculous escape from the assailants. He ultimately landed at the intensive care of the nearby hospital.
He then fled to Ogun State in the South Western part of Nigeria where he was nevertheless traced down attacked in the company of his family members but they were rescued by the timely intervention of the police.
He has since gone underground for the safety of his life and that of his family members.
The water in the political circles of Nigeria, meanwhile, had remained murdy as those who wish to play honest politics with good will are being daily hounded.
Mr. Suleiman’s life has been put in disarray as he and his family members live in perpetual fear of being hunted down because of his association with late Barrister Chief Oyibo Chukwu.
