University professor commits suicide in Benue
Tragedy has hit the Federal University of Agriculture (FUAM) in Makurdi as the Professor of Biological Sciences from the Ibo extraction, Prof Frank Onyezili, has committed suicide.
New Telegraph gathered that the incident which occurred last weekend, threw the entire university community into a state of mourning.
Director of Protocol and Information of the university, Chief Mrs. Rosemary Waku confirmed the tragedy to newsmen on phone.
Mrs. Waku said, ‘Professor Onyezili committed suicide on Friday last week at FUAM’.
She stated that the late professor left a suicide note behind, but she cannot revealed the content of the note to journalists for the reason that she was to have access to the note .
Police spokesman DSP Moses Yamu told reporters that he was yet to get the detail of the incident from the Divisional Office.
When newsmen visited the residence of the deceased in the campus of the university, sympathisers mostly academicians were seen signing the condolence register.
They described him as a perfect gentleman and wondered why he commuted suicide.
