UELsemis: Man U battle Celta Vigo for final ticket

Manchester United have been paired with Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi-finals following the draw ceremony in Nyon, Switzerland.

Jose Mourinho’s men are currently England’s sole representatives in European competition and are bidding to lift the trophy for the first time in the club’s illustrious history.

The Reds’ reward for beating Anderlecht in extra-time at Old Trafford, 3-2 on aggregate, is a clash against the team from La Liga, who saw off Genk in the previous round and have been prioritising this competition of late.

The ties will be played on Thursday 4 and 11 May, with the first leg at the Balaidos Stadium and the second game at Old Trafford. The clubs have no previous meetings.

The other semi-final pits Ajax against Lyon and the prize for the victors of both ties is a place in the final at the Friends Arena in Stockholm on 24 May.
