The serene atmosphere of UBTH Golf Club, Benin City will host scores of golfers at the forthcoming 4th Ladies Open Golf Championship scheduled to tee-off from Friday, February 28th to March 1st, 2020.
The three-day championship being organised by the ladies section, UBTH Golf Club is attracting about one hundred and fifty lady golfers as well as male golfers from various clubs across the federation.
According to the Club Lady Captain, Sandra Monye-Emina in a chat with Daily Dispatch, she disclosed that she and her team of exco are making sure that the championship is a huge success.
Emina noted that all the various categories will be competing for three days while the men are to play as guests for one day. Adding that It would be a straight 18 holes golf course with a lot of OB and bunkers to play against.
It could be recalled that UBTH Golf Course was founded in 2007 by Professor Eugene Okpere, the then Chief Medical Director. The golf course features a straight 18-hole course with front nine, back nine, pro shop, practice green, practice range, sports bar and a 22-room guest house.
The club could boast of a unique kind of green grasses covering the vicinity, and it is considered the prettiest in Nigeria. It is void of thorny weeds usually found in most golf courses in Nigeria.
Currently, UBTH is the only teaching hospital in the world with an 18-hole golf course. It is part of the hospital’s core duty to promote better health for all, and with the use of such recreational initiatives.
