TWO SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS SHOT DEAD WHILE ATTACKING DANGOTE COMPANY.
Ogun State Police Command on Saturday shot dead two armed robbers while attacking
Dangote Cement Company in Ibese community of the State.
The Command Public Relations Officer ,Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known to Dailydispatch,adding that the operation was carried out by 7-man robbery gang.
’Men of Ogun State Police Command have shot dead two suspected armed robbers who are members of robbery gang that attacked Dangote Cement Company at Ibese in the early hours of today 2/12/17′,Oyeyemi said.
He said the 7-man gang invaded the company armed with dangerous weapons and moved straight to the material section to cart away some armoured cables.
Oyeyemi added that,the policemen posted on duty at the company were alerted by the company security men and they promptly moved to the scene.
His words ‘On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums engaged them in gun battle which lasted for about 45 minutes’.
He added that,at the end of the encounter,one of the robbers was shot dead while one was arrested with serious gunshot wounds but died on the way to the hospital.
Oyeyemi said,other members of the gang escaped with various degrees of gun shot injuries,stating that exhibits recovered from them include; one locally made single barrel gun, 14 expended cartridges, dagger and a house breaking equipment.
He said the Commissioner of Police Ahmed iliyasu while commending the gallantry display of his men appealed to members of the public especially hospital to report anybody seen with gunshot wound to the police.
‘He also assured residents of the state of adequate security before during and after the forthcoming yuletide season’,Oyeyemi stressed.
