TVC Board Set To Increase The Unemployment Number; Pencils 200 For Sack

Staff of  Television Continental Broadcasting Service owners of TVC News, TVC Nigeria, TVC Entertainment and Adaba FM in Ondo State, are not facing the best of time. Information reaching us says about two hundred members of staff are set to be thrown into the labour market in the next few days. CBS is owned by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. CASEFILE gathered that the new board of the broadcast outfit has penciled down 200 staff for sack, based on the instruction of the APC national leader. This is sending fears to the spine of staff especially at the premises of the station, located at Ikosi-Ketu in Lagos, as many workers don’t know their fate. It was gathered that the board headed by a white man, Andre Hanlon took the decision to reduce overhead costs, most especially workers’ salaries running into millions of naira. Sources close to the station told CASEFILE that the monthly salary of Hanlon alone is more than what can be used to offset the salaries of the over 120 members of staff earmarked for sack by the corporation. It was further learnt that the CEO of the station and other backroom staff brought by him are earning over £50,000 per month, which has increased the station’s monthly wage bill. This is apart from the accommodation, feeding and other allowances being paid the CEO and his team. It was further gathered that worst hit by the exercise are members of staff in the news and programmes departments of the stations, numbering about 140.
