Trump’s Unexpected Commendation Buries the Opposition’s 2027 Game Plan and Vindicates Tinubu, the Cat with Nine Lives
By Okoi Obono-Obla
President Donald Trump, the mercurial President of the United States of America, who is as unpredictable as elemental weather itself, so unpredictable that you cannot take him for granted, has done it again.
At a time when science and technology have become so advanced that robotics now performs tasks ordinarily done by human beings, President Trump has, on the eve of the commencement of campaigns for the 2027 general election in Nigeria, taken the wind out of the opposition’s sails.
Unexpectedly and out of the blue, he wrote an audacious letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending him for his leadership and especially for taking the battle to the ubiquitous terrorists and bloodying their noses so badly.
Terrorism and insecurity were issues the opposition thought they would anchor their entire 2027 campaign on and make into a vociferous issue against the administration.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is really a cat with nine lives. He is wiry and shrewd, so much so that he does not easily fall prey, no matter how formidable the trap you lay for him.
Even when serial contenders have paid millions of dollars to public relations firms in the United States of America to grease the palms of lobbyists and unleash a campaign of calumny against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to discredit him in the eyes of President Trump and other leaders of the United States, relying on rested and recycled matters, President Trump has subtly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In conclusion, this unexpected commendation from Washington has effectively neutralized the opposition’s most potent campaign weapon. It shows that no amount of well-funded lobbying abroad can obscure the facts on the ground, and it reaffirms Tinubu’s uncanny political resilience as Nigeria inches towards 2027.
