Troops Arrest Suspected Military Impostor In Kaduna
Troops of the 312 Artillery Regiment under the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a suspected military impostor in Kaduna State as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the integrity of the Armed Forces and protect members of the public from fraudulent activities.
The suspect, identified as a civilian, was apprehended at about 9:50 a.m. on June 11, 2026, by troops deployed at Strike Force Base Sabo while allegedly impersonating retired Major General AT Ibrahim.
According to the Nigerian Army, preliminary investigations into the matter are ongoing. The suspect is expected to be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution upon the conclusion of initial inquiries.
The Army reiterated its commitment to combating all forms of criminality, including impersonation and other acts capable of undermining public confidence in the military institution.
It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report individuals claiming military status without proper identification.
The Nigerian Army assured citizens that it would continue to take decisive action against anyone found exploiting the name, image and reputation of the Armed Forces for unlawful purposes.
