Tinubu Urges Unity, Assures Nigerians of Progress Amid Challenges

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for unity, resilience, and continued faith in his administration as Nigerians celebrate Easter, assuring citizens that efforts to tackle economic and security challenges are beginning to yield results.

In his 2026 Easter message, the president said the season symbolises sacrifice, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness, noting that its message resonates with Nigeria’s current realities.

Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties facing the country, including economic strain and persistent insecurity, but emphasised that his government remains committed to addressing them through increased resource allocation, strengthened security operations, and international partnerships.

He commended the efforts of Nigeria’s armed forces, describing them as gallant men and women who continue to confront security threats across the country. Despite ongoing challenges, the president said progress is being made in tackling terrorism and banditry.

Reflecting on his recent visit to Jos, Tinubu said he had commiserated with residents over recent security incidents and reassured them of improved safety, adding that security chiefs have expressed confidence in ongoing operations.

The president also urged Nigerians to support lawful measures, promote unity, and reject actions that threaten national peace and stability. According to him, no meaningful development can occur in an atmosphere of fear.

On the economy, Tinubu reiterated that his administration’s reforms, though challenging in the short term, are designed to deliver long-term prosperity. He expressed optimism that key economic indicators point to positive outcomes and a “new dawn” for the country.

As Nigeria approaches another electoral cycle, the president called on political actors and citizens to uphold democratic values, stressing the importance of adhering to the Electoral Act and promoting peaceful participation.

Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their continued support and trust, pledging to remain committed to building a safer, more prosperous, and democratically stronger nation.

He concluded by wishing Christians in Nigeria and across the world a happy Easter celebration.
