Tinubu to Begin Commissioning of Major FCT Projects Tuesday, Says Wike
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, commence the commissioning of a series of major infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, disclosed this on Monday during a site verification tour of key projects slated for inauguration.
According to Wike, the President will begin with the commissioning of the second stage of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) Main Carriageways, which he described as fully completed and ready for use.
“Tomorrow, the President will start the commissioning of the OSEX road, which was the first place we visited this morning,” the minister said.
He revealed that the commissioning programme would continue throughout the week, with Tinubu scheduled to inaugurate the strategic Arterial Road N5 in Life Camp on Wednesday, June 10, and the newly dualised Highway 105, linking the Abuja Airport corridor to Kuje, on Thursday.
Wike said all three projects had been completed on schedule, commending the contractors involved for meeting agreed timelines.
“These three projects are one hundred percent complete and ready for commissioning. What is important to us is that we have been able to achieve the timeline, and I commend the various contractors that are involved for keeping to their promises,” he stated.
The minister also disclosed that the President would extend the commissioning exercise to projects in satellite towns and Area Councils, describing the move as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and living conditions in rural communities.
He credited the achievements recorded in the FCT to the support and leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the President had provided the necessary backing to ensure the completion of both ongoing and inherited projects.
“The credit must go to Mr. President, who has given that directive and support for us to go this far,” Wike said, adding that effective leadership involves completing projects regardless of who initiated them.
Addressing concerns over the delayed opening of newly completed FCT bus terminals, the minister appealed for patience, explaining that the facilities are undergoing the necessary procurement and concession processes before commercial operations can begin.
He noted that the Federal Executive Council had approved a Public-Private Partnership lease arrangement and that the selected concessionaire was currently assembling buses and taxis to ensure smooth operations once the terminals are launched.
“Government process is not easy; bureaucracy is involved. The person going to manage the facility is assembling the buses and taxis to ensure that it takes off smoothly,” Wike explained.
