Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Elevating Nigeria’s Global Standing
President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his unwavering commitment to restoring Nigeria’s pride and dignity on the international stage — a mandate he said was entrusted to him by Nigerians during the 2023 general elections.
Returning to Abuja on Thursday after a two-week official tour of Japan and Brazil, the President emphasized that every engagement during the trip was strategically aimed at securing tangible opportunities for economic growth, employment, and national prosperity.
“It’s good to be back home in Nigeria after our recent productive visits to Japan and Brazil,” Tinubu said via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. “You entrusted me in 2023 with the task of restoring our national dignity globally, and I remain dedicated to fulfilling that responsibility.
“Each handshake, each agreement, and every meeting we had was focused on a single goal: unlocking opportunities that lead to real benefits for Nigerians — growth, jobs, and prosperity.”
According to the President, Nigeria’s engagements in Japan opened doors for new investments in key areas such as industry, technology, and human capital development.
In Brazil, he noted, both nations made significant progress in strengthening cooperation across trade, agriculture, aviation, and financial sectors. Meetings with business leaders, he added, were aimed at reinforcing investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
“This is the new Nigeria we are building — one grounded in lasting, sustainable reforms rather than empty rhetoric. A Nigeria that holds its head high internationally, shows resilience at home, and creates real value for every citizen, both locally and in the diaspora.
“The road ahead will not be without obstacles, but with unity and the courage to implement meaningful reforms, I’m confident our best days are still to come. God bless Nigeria.”
President Tinubu’s flight touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 1:20 a.m. on Thursday.
He was warmly received by several top government officials, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila; FCT Minister Nyesom Wike; Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, along with other ministers and presidential aides.
The President left Abuja on Friday, August 15, 2025, and stopped over in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before proceeding to Japan, where he was said to have attended the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in the City of Yokohama from August 20 to 22.

He also held bilateral meetings and met with the chief executive officers of some Japanese companies with investments in Nigeria.

Tinubu later left Japan for Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, on a state visit following an invitation by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva
