Tinubu orders security agencies to hunt down perpetrators of Kasuwan Daji attack
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the military, the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to track down and arrest those responsible for the recent terrorist attack on Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State.
In a directive issued on Sunday, the President instructed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the DSS to ensure that the attackers are apprehended and brought swiftly to justice. He also ordered security agencies to urgently rescue all victims abducted during the attack.
The directive followed the killing of villagers and the abduction of women and children in Kasuwan Daji by terrorists believed to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara states after a United States air strike on Christmas Eve.
President Tinubu strongly condemned the assault on the community and expressed deep sympathy with the families of the victims, as well as the government and people of Niger State.
“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions,” the President said, vowing that all those involved, including anyone who aids or supports them, would be pursued and prosecuted.
He assured residents of Niger State that security agencies have been mandated to intensify operations around vulnerable communities, especially those located near forests often used as hideouts by criminal elements.
The President also called on Nigerians to remain united and avoid divisive rhetoric that could threaten national cohesion at a time of heightened security challenges.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison,” Tinubu said, stressing that peace and security would be restored to affected communities.
The statement was signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga
