…. Commends Security Agencies

President Bola Tinubu has expressed delight over the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, commending the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force for securing their freedom after 56 days in captivity.

In a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the security agencies for their coordinated military, intelligence and police operation, which led to the safe rescue of the victims without any collateral damage.

The President also lauded the operatives for arresting eight suspected abductors and neutralising others involved in the kidnapping.

He expressed sympathy to the rescued children, teachers and their families over the trauma they endured during the period of captivity, describing the successful operation as a huge relief to the nation.

“I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire, Ogbomoso, in Oyo State after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists and led to the arrest of eight of them,” Tinubu said.

He noted that the operation ended more than 50 days of uncertainty and anxiety for the affected families and the country.

The President assured that his administration would ensure justice for the victims and the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was reportedly killed by the kidnappers during the incident.

Tinubu also commended the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government throughout the rescue efforts and urged the state to strengthen security around schools to prevent similar incidents.

In addition, he directed emergency response agencies to work with the Oyo State Government to provide the rescued children and teachers with the necessary medical care, trauma counselling and other relief support.
