Tinubu Hails Election Winners in FCT, Kano, Rivers
President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to candidates who emerged victorious in Saturday’s elections held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as well as in Kano and Rivers states.
The polls, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), covered all six area councils in the FCT, alongside by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II constituencies in Rivers State, and Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
In his message, the President urged the winners to approach their new responsibilities with humility, patriotism, and a strong sense of duty, emphasizing that the mandate entrusted to them by voters should be regarded as sacred.
He also praised the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as notable progress in the territory, adding that such efforts have translated into electoral gains for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu further congratulated the APC’s national leadership, as well as its structures in Kano and Rivers states, for their success at the polls.
The President commended INEC, security agencies, and the electorate for ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process. He also acknowledged the sportsmanship and resilience shown by all contestants, noting that active participation and healthy competition are essential to a thriving democracy.
Reaffirming his commitment to democratic growth, Tinubu said the successful conduct of the elections reinforces Nigeria’s democratic institutions, while urging INEC to build on its performance and continue to enhance the credibility of future elections.
