Tinubu forwards Ibas, Ita Enang two others as Ambassadorial nominees to Senate
President Bola Tinubu has put forward a new set of non-career ambassadorial nominees, led by Ibok-Ete Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State. Others on the list include former Akwa Ibom North-East senator (2011–2015) Ita Enang, former Imo State First Lady Chioma Ohakim, and ex-Minister of Interior and former Chief of Army Staff, Abdulrahman Dambazau.
The nominations were announced in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session in Abuja, December 4, 2025. In the letter, Tinubu urged the Senate to fast-track the confirmation process to ensure important diplomatic positions are promptly occupied.
Following the announcement, Akpabio referred the nominees to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, instructing the committee to conduct its screening and present a report within one week.
This batch of nominees was not part of the earlier list of ambassadorial candidates released by the presidency.
