Tinubu Cut Short His Vacation

President Bola Tinubu is set to return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, to resume official duties after cutting short his vacation.

His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the President decided to end his work holiday earlier than scheduled. Tinubu had travelled to France on September 4 for part of his annual leave, with plans to spend the rest in the United Kingdom.

During his stay in Paris, the President held a private luncheon with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, where both leaders reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation and agreed to deepen partnerships for shared prosperity and global stability.

This marks Tinubu’s seventh trip to France since taking office in May 2023 and his first international engagement since attending the BRICS summit in Brazil and the TICAD9 conference in Japan earlier this year.

So far in 2025, Tinubu has embarked on 15 foreign trips covering 11 countries. These included high-level summits, state visits, bilateral meetings, and official inaugurations.

His diplomatic engagements this year began in January, when he attended John Dramani Mahama’s inauguration in Accra, Ghana. He later travelled to the UAE for the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit, followed by a visit to Tanzania for the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit.

In February, he attended the 37th African Union Summit in Ethiopia after a brief stop in France. April saw him on a two-week working tour of France and the UK, while in May he travelled to Rome for the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.

Between June and July, the President visited Saint Lucia to address CARICOM leaders before heading to Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit. His itinerary also included a return state visit to Brazil in August and participation in the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Japan, where he met Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss maritime security and digital infrastructure.

In the same month, he stopped over in Dubai for the second time in 2025 before continuing to Yokohama, Japan. September took him back to France and the United Kingdom for a working holiday—his third time in Paris and second in London this year.

Now, with his vacation brought to an early close, President Tinubu will be back in the country to continue his official responsibilities.
