Tinubu Congratulates Oyebanji on Historic Re-election Victory in Ekiti

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his decisive victory in Saturday’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of his administration’s performance and leadership.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly during the election, while expressing appreciation for their renewed confidence in Governor Oyebanji.

The President also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts toward delivering peaceful, free, fair and credible elections ahead of the Osun State governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu noted that Oyebanji’s victory was historic, making him the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure re-election back-to-back.

According to the President, the governor’s first term witnessed notable achievements in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare and rural development under the BAO Agenda, adding that the renewed mandate reflects the people’s confidence in continuity, stability and people-centred governance.

He urged the governor to remain magnanimous in victory and ensure inclusive governance by carrying all segments of the state along as he begins a new term in office.

The President also commended other candidates who participated in the election, saying they had exercised their democratic rights and should now join hands with the governor in advancing the development of Ekiti State.

Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more democratic dividends and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.

He further prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State.
