Tinubu Congratulates Kano Governor Abba Yusuf on 63rd Birthday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on his 63rd birthday, describing him as a leader of integrity, humility and strong commitment to public service.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Governor Yusuf’s leadership style and achievements since assuming office, noting that his administration reflects dedication to grassroots development and the welfare of ordinary citizens.

President Tinubu recalled that Governor Yusuf, who was elected in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), previously served as Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport in Kano State between 2011 and 2015 under the administration of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

He said Yusuf’s governance approach in Kano, which he described as a stronghold of progressive politics in Northern Nigeria, aligns with the legacy of championing the cause of the talakawa (the common people) as exemplified by the late Mallam Aminu Kano.

“Governor Yusuf’s leadership experience, particularly his years as commissioner managing strategic portfolios in Kano State, may have prepared him for the kind of infrastructural changes now witnessed in the state,” President Tinubu said.

The President highlighted ongoing urban renewal initiatives, including the construction of bridges and road networks across the state, as well as the development of five-kilometre roads in each local government area.

He also commended the governor’s declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector, noting that it has led to improved performance by Kano students in recent National Examinations Council (NECO) results.

President Tinubu wished Governor Yusuf long life, good health and continued success in providing what he described as transformative leadership for the people of Kano State.
