Tinubu Approves Cabinet Reshuffle, Replaces Wale Edun and Housing Ministers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting key members of the Federal Executive Council, as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve economic delivery.

In a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, two ministers—Wale Edun and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa—have been directed to step down from their positions.

Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, is to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been elevated from Minister of State to take full charge of the ministry.

In the Housing and Urban Development Ministry, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as ministerial nominee and minister designate, replacing Dangiwa, who has been instructed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.

The directive mandates that all handover processes be completed on or before April 23, 2026.

According to Akume, the reshuffle is intended to “strengthen cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians,” in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the changes.

President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors, while also assuring that the process of cabinet reinvigoration would remain ongoing.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, dated April 20, 2026.
