Shettima Reveals Shocking Allegation Made Against Him Before Election

Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that some individuals allegedly told President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he was plotting to kill him, amid political tensions before the 2023 general elections.

Shettima made the disclosure while speaking at a public event, where he reflected on his political relationship with Tinubu and the challenges they faced during the build-up to the election.

According to the Vice President, certain political actors attempted to sow discord between him and the President by spreading false claims about his intentions.

“People told Tinubu that I wanted to kill him,” Shettima said, adding that despite the rumours and political intrigues, Tinubu remained steadfast and refused to be influenced by such allegations.

He praised the President for showing trust, courage, and political maturity throughout the period, noting that their partnership had remained strong despite efforts to create division within the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Shettima also said the experience reinforced his loyalty and respect for Tinubu, whom he described as a leader with deep political insight and confidence in those working with him.

The Vice President’s remarks have since sparked reactions in political circles, with observers linking the revelation to the intense power struggles and internal rivalries that characterised the run-up to the 2023 presidential election.
