SENATOR ADEOLA TRAINS 400 CONSTITUENTS ON SKILLS AND ENTREPRENUER DEVELOPMENT IN LAGOS WEST.

As part of his empowerment programmes for women and youths of the Lagos West Senatorial District, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content, Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Lagos West)  aka Yayi in conjunction with Small and Medium Scale Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN organized a 6-Day entrepreneurship development training and skills acquisition for 400 youths and women of Lagos West Senatorial District.

The programme which rounded off over the weekend at two centres in Ikeja and Ojo simultaneously involved 200 youths and 200 women for entrepreneur development training and skills acquisition respectively. Women were to be trained in modern catering and make- up artistry skills to prepare them for sustainable self employment.

Senator Adeola  in message to the programme through his Principal  Constituency Officer, Barrister Rabel Babatunde said in view of increasing unemployment rate in the country, which is more biting in his most populous senatorial district, there is need for entrepreneurship training for youth and skill acquisition to position constituents for opportunities in gainful self employment adding that in due course he will embark on the third series of equipment empowerment scheme for constituents as he usually does to complement the training and skills acquisition programme.

He noted that in view of the need to infuse local content for Nigerians in all sectors of the economy against foreign domination of our economy, there is need for skills acquisition in relevant areas by youths and women to take up opportunities adding that once the National Assembly amend the Local Content Act of 2010 to include sectors like construction, ICT, manufacturing in addition to the oil and gas, vast opportunities will be open for Nigerians.
