The nefarious activities of land grabbers for the past ten years at Lufuwape community located in Obafemi-Owode Local Government area of Ogun State has been attributed to the connivance of some security personnel aiding them to terrorise the community unchecked.
The indigenes of the community started experiencing this bad taste and under the siege of these land grabbers, many of them established to be coming from neighbouring Lagos State since 2010, while several petitions written to Ogun Police Command met brick wall without any feedback till today to the community.
Vice Chairman of the Community Development Association (CDA), Mike Opia made this known at a media briefing held in the community on Sunday where he raised alarm over invasion of their land by suspected land speculators, who they alleged to have subjected residents to nightmare experiences.
Opia lamented that the suspected land grabbers were been aided by some security personnel to torment residents over their landed properties
However, he passionately appealed to the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun to come to their aid, adding that number of the buildings under construction were forcefully pull down at gun point by the bandits.
Opia recalled that in one of the attacks launched by the bandits, he was hit by bullets from the land speculators, adding that number of residents were also victims of the violence attack, while residents cannot sleep with their two eyes closed anymore.
Furthermore, he pointed at number of building foundations destroyed by the bandits to journalists, and that the community had made several reports to the Ogun State Police Command, lamenting that no feedback on the petition till date.
Opia said: ‘We started experiencing this bad taste from the land grabbers since 2010 till date, these guys are aided by some security personnel, many of them established to be coming from neighbouring Lagos State. We have written to police command, but no feedback till today.
The CDA alleged that the gang leader, Moruta Afolabi has evaded arrest, and still walking freely on the street, having being established to be responsible for the shooting of residents.
‘We are using this medium to passionately appeal to our governor Abiodun and the government of the state to come to our aid, before the bandits ruin our community. We have been suffering in silence since 2010, and we cannot bear the humiliation and threat any longer,” he emphasized
Opia accompanied by other elders in the community said one of the residents identified as Adebayo Omorenu was during one of the attacks, kidnapped by the land grabbers with the aid of some suspected cultists.
