Sallah Clash: Kwankwasiyya movement threatens legal action

Following the clash between Kwankwasiyya and supporters of Governor Umar Ganduje, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has threatened to take legal action against the perpetrators.

Supporters of the two politicians clashed between at Emir”s palace during the famous Havana Daushe on Saturday, which confirmed  20 members of Kwankwasiyya movement injured.

Addressing a press conference in Kano, a former Commissioner under Kwankwaso ’s regime, Dr Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, said: “We will approach the court as soon as we finished compiling our data. It is unfortunate that some people in the government will lead thugs to attack unarmed people. We will not allow this continue under our watch.

“We have already identified some of the people that hired the thugs. We have identified three government officials including a State Lawmaker who led the thugs to launch the attack on us. They have injured 20 members of Kwankwasiyya  during the attack.”

Dangwani regretted that Ganduje-led administration was becoming something else, saying “We did not elected this government to kill us. The government is using government’s fund to hire thugs to launch attack on innocent people.”

He, therefore, appealed to all members of Kwankwasiyya to remain calm, assuring that the movement would do everything within its power to ensure that the perpetrators were punished according to the provisions of the laws.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Information, Muhammad Garba, dispelled allegations that the attack was sponsored by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Garba said neither the governor nor any government official had hand in the attack.

The commissioner said the Kwankwasiyya  was making baseless allegation against the governor and government, saying government was committed towards ensuring peace in the state.

He said, “How can a government that is promoting peace can at the same time sponsor an attack on it people. This is a baseless allegation that will not be regarded by all right thinking people.”
