Rules of engagement: DHQ sets up 13 man draft committee

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has inaugurated a 13 man draft committee on the rules of engagement for the Armed force’s of Nigeria.
The event which was held at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja has all of its members drawn from The Three Arms Zone.
The International Community of the Red Cross (ICRC) and The National Human Right Commission.
The chief of Army Staff General Abayomi Olonisakin in his inaugural address says “The military should carry out its duties with the consideration of human rights”
He urged the committee to co-ordinate and standardise the modalities of teaching the rules of engagement in all military institutions and to develop a standard package as well as the mode of carrying them out.
Furthermore, he says while carrying out their constitutional assigned task human right of innocent citizens must be held sacrosanct.
