Rivers senators clash over recovered N13b

Senator Magnus Abe, who is representing Rivers South East Senatorial‎ District, on Thursday cautioned Senator Gorge Sekibo, another representative of Rivers State, against raising false alarm over the recovered N13 billion from Osborne Tower in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
Abe said ‎if his colleague has relevant document that can reveal that the recovered loot belonged to the Rivers State Government, he should approach the panel set up by Presidency with the information at his disposal.
According to him: “Since my colleague has the relevant information about the recovered loot in Lagos, he should supply the committee set up on the matter with relevant information.”
Senator Sekibo had come in ‎through Order 43 on the floor of the Senate during plenary, explaining that the Rivers State Government had for a long time initiated whistle blowing policy with a view to recover loots by the immediate past administration of Rotimi Amaechi.
In his words‎: “Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, I rise through Order 43 to remind the Chamber of circumstances surrounding the N13 billion in Osborne building in Lagos.”
Sekibo, who blew a‎ whistle on the floor as part of his demonstration, expressed concern over the politicisation of the money, adding that he was sure of Rivers State ownership if diligent investigation was carried out.
In his ruling, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, said the lower chamber had commenced investigation into the matter, adding that the Representatives should be allowed to conclude the exercise.
