Rivers Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu dumps PDP, registers with APC

The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Ngozi Odu, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking another major political shift in the state.

Odu completed her registration at her ward in Akabuka town, Ward 8, Unit 11, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.

Moments after registering, the deputy governor led party supporters in singing “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” a song popularly linked with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attracting attention at the venue.

Her move comes just weeks after Governor Siminalayi Fubara also defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC following a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Governor Fubara was subsequently registered into the APC by the party’s Rivers State chairman, Tony Okocha, who said the exercise was conducted on the instruction of the party’s national leadership.

In a further development, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, has since recognised Governor Fubara as the party’s leader in Rivers State, underscoring the ongoing political realignments in the oil-producing state.
