Thee House of Representatives’ Public Committee on Wednesday summoned former and current Director General of National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Paul Orhi and Mojisola Adeyeye respectively to appear before it Tuesday next week over unaudited Accounts of the Agency
Chairman of the committee, Rep. Wole Oke gave the directive when the immediate DG of the Agency appeared before the Committee currently investigating the the refusal of over 300 Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs of the Federal Government to render their audited accounts to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation , saying this was to give him a room for fair hearing before the Committee would take any final decision on the matter
The former DG had informed the committee that he did not come prepared as he only got to know about
his invitation by the Committee through the current Directo General of the agency
He explained that he decided to honour the invitation because of the respect he had for the committee and promised to provide all needed information by the Committee if given the opportunity
Consequently, the Chairman of the Committee ruled that in the spirit of fair, the hearing would have to be adjourned to enable the former DG to liaise with the accounting department of the agency and the current Acting DG to enable him have access to account document having left the agency for years.
The committee to this regard charged NAFDAC to render detailed 2009 – 2013 audit reports and provide all relevant documents to it when appeared next week Tuesday.
According to Mr. Oke, it is unheard of for an agency not to render accounts for four years running despite all public funds allocated to Agency during the period under review.
