Renaissance Targets 300,000bpd Output by 2026
Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited says it is on course to achieve a production milestone of 300,000 barrels per day (bpd) by January 2026, following steady operational gains and facility upgrades.
Chief Production Officer, Dr. Mesh Maichibi, disclosed this on Friday while delivering a lecture at the 20th Annual Lecture and Award Ceremony of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Port Harcourt Branch.
Speaking on “Transition Management: The Renaissance Case Study,” Maichibi highlighted the company’s growth since acquiring Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) assets in March. He revealed that Renaissance had ramped up production from 100,000 bpd at acquisition to about 230,000 bpd, with three additional facilities set to come onstream before year-end.
“We are confident of reaching 300,000 bpd by January 2026. We know the crude locations, understand the challenges, and are implementing the right mechanisms to deliver results,” he said.
Maichibi pointed to the Belama flow station—capable of producing 25,000 bpd—as one of several high-capacity assets being restarted to boost output. He added that production has more than doubled in just a few months, despite sectoral disruptions, and reaffirmed the company’s ambition to become Africa’s largest energy firm.
He also emphasised Renaissance’s focus on capacity building, noting that 80 percent of operations are handled by local contractors, now regarded as “partners,” with investments in training young graduates for future leadership roles.
“Nigeria’s crude oil reserves demand long-term planning and skilled manpower. We are committed to grooming the next generation of energy professionals,” he said.
Earlier, NSE Port Harcourt Branch Chairman, Idaeresoari Ateke, reiterated the body’s commitment to professional excellence and mentorship, describing the annual lecture and awards as a vital platform for honouring contributions to engineering and fostering knowledge transfer.
