Rector, Fedploy Ilaro Orchestrated SUG President Incarceration – NANS, NAOSS

The leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Ogun State and National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) have made bold that the arrest and detention of Comrade Adegboye Emmanuel Olatunji, President of the Student Union Government (SUG) Federal Polytechnic Ilaro was orchestrated by the Rector, Dr. Olusegun Aluko.
Similarly, the students leaders equally expressed sadness over the role played by the state Police Command led by Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson for colluding with the Rector to frame the SUG president
This was made known in a press conference jointly addressed by Chairman, NANS Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Ogun State, Comrade Bamgbose Tomiwa Peters, and President, National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), Comrade Ogunrombi Oluwagbemileke, held on Tuesday in Abeokuta,
They hereby condemned the act of intimidation and victimisation of the SUG president by the rector and some management staff of the institution, having followed with keen interests events as they unfold as regards the drama surrounding his arrest.
They added that most especially as it related to the allegation of cultism levied against him by the state command, hitherto made bold to say that his arrest and detention was orchestrated by the rector.
They addressed: “We have been able to established that the cultism allegation trial was an attempt by the rector and some management staff of the institution to frame up our colleague, Comrade Adegboye in the struggle, when all attempts to subdue him from raising some fundamental questions as regards the management of the institution resources was not yielded to by him.
“And this is evident in the quick manner in which the management of the institution suspended him without giving him the opportunity to defend himself in line with principle of fair hearing as guaranteed and enshrined under Section 36(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
“As students leaders in this state we will continue to resist any attempt or calculated attempts to turn us to stooges in the hands of our institutions management, as we will continue to defend the interests of our students at all times in all fronts.
“We will equally fight this deliberate effort to destroy our comrade as we have been able to ascertain in our fact-findings.
“We hereby call for the immediate and unconditional reinstatement of our colleague pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation by the state police command. As his suspension is psychologically affecting him of which was equally responsible for the attempt by him to commit suicide some days back.
“Failure to reinstate him shall be met with full resistance by the leadership of all Students Union in Ogun State because we cannot allow our institutions management to be intimidating and victimising us because we ask for accountability of resources accruing to our institutions covers.”
