President Tinubu reschedules Kaduna visit, heads to Benue to address ongoing conflict

President Bola Tinubu has postponed his official visit to Kaduna State and will instead travel to Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The change in schedule reflects the administration’s renewed commitment to restoring peace and addressing the protracted violence affecting communities in Benue.

The President’s visit is intended to provide a firsthand assessment of the persistent crisis that has resulted in numerous casualties and widespread destruction.

While in Benue, President Tinubu will engage with a broad range of stakeholders—including traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, community heads, and youth representatives—in a bid to find lasting solutions to the unrest.

In preparation for the visit, the President has deployed key government officials to the state. These include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, top intelligence chiefs, the National Security Adviser, and the Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on Defence.

As part of his itinerary, President Tinubu is also expected to host a town hall meeting with stakeholders to directly hear their concerns and proposals.

President Tinubu has consistently condemned the violence in Benue State and has urged all residents and leaders to embrace peace, unity, and mutual understanding. He has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of victims and all those affected by the crisis.

Originally scheduled to visit Kaduna State on Wednesday to commission key projects, the President will now carry out that engagement on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
