President Tinubu Accepts Resignation of Innovation Minister Geoffrey Nnaji
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, amid emerging allegations against the minister.
The SSpecial Adviser to the on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Appointed in August 2023, Nnaji submitted his resignation today, expressing gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the nation. In his resignation letter, Nnaji claimed he had been the target of blackmail by political opponents.
“I am stepping aside to allow for an unbiased atmosphere while maintaining my innocence,” Nnaji wrote, while reaffirming his commitment to the values of public service.
In response, President Tinubu thanked Nnaji for his service and wished him well in his future endeavours.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
No replacement has been announced at this time.
