Presidency Debunks Poisoning Claim Against Tinubu, Labels Report Fake
The Presidency has firmly denied viral social media claims suggesting that kitchen staff at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa were arrested over an alleged attempt to poison President Bola Tinubu.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, addressed the issue on Sunday via his official X account, where he shared the video behind the claims and dismissed it as entirely false.
The circulating video alleged that a presidential chef had been apprehended following intelligence reports of suspicious activities tied to food preparation within restricted areas of the Villa.
It further claimed that security agencies launched a swift and discreet operation, involving specialised personnel, to neutralise a supposed threat to the president.
According to the narration, the suspect—said to be part of the kitchen staff—was taken into custody for questioning, while authorities urged the public to remain calm as investigations continued.
However, Onanuga refuted the claims in clear terms, stating that no such incident occurred. He emphasized that no kitchen staff had been arrested and no poisoning attempt was made against Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He urged the public to disregard the video, describing it as fake news deliberately spread to mislead.
So far, officials have not disclosed the source of the video or the motive behind its circulation.
